Chennai (formerly known as Madras) is the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is India's fourth largest city, with a population of almost 7 million inhabitants.

Chennai Airport (MAA)
You may want to exchange for some rupees before you arrive, because the Chennai airport is minimal and doesn't have (as far as I could tell) an ATM. There is an exchange counter by baggage claim, but only a few currencies were listed -- not including the Singapore dollars I was hoping to pawn off.
Four-eyed shunpikers opting for a cushy air-conditioned ride to Mamallapuram should beware that the moment that they step out of the car, their glasses will fog up to the point of opacity.
