Logos

Todd says:

Never too early to start thinking about a house style. This basically means: A Logo. It would be nice to have a consistent logo which carries well across different media, looking good on a letterhead, as well as handpainted on the Shunpiker's first signboard in Mamallapuram.
Looks like we've already started with a style on the first Shunpiker website, and now we're continuing that a bit with the wiki. But maybe that's just momentum.
But do we like it? Is that kind of identity really so important?
I came up with the cart wheel as a symbol for the Shunpiker, and took it from there. Within the wheel now are allusions to the flag of India, Dharma and Temple silhouettes. I didn't want to get too literal or referential, so I didn't give it the 8 spokes of the dharmachakra, and I didn't model it very closely on the great wheel at Konark either
I like the idea of just using the text "The Shunpiker", and leaving out the words "Guest House". It's as if it's larger than a guest house, it's a concept. People will talk about the Shunpiker someday as an institution, as a way of life.
If anybody else has any other ideas, don't be shy about sharing it. I probably won't find it as amazing and beautiful as my own logo, but you never know...

Here are a few logo ideas.

Other Corporate and religious logos

After finding myself quite clever for the logos you see above, I thought I should do a google search with the terms "logo wheel temple", and was surprised to find out that we wouldn't be the only ones with dharma on the mind. Most of these organizations have a special bit about the profound and uncanny significance of their particular logo... apparently the wheel is appropriate for any megalomaniacal undertaking.
