Product Definition
- Describe product/service being marketed
- The Shunpiker Guest House is to be a middle bracket pension catering to leisure tourists looking for something out of the ordinary. The Shunpiker will offer many services and opportunities unavailable by typical Indian beach pensions without lapsing into an exclusive bracket. Unique to the Shunpiker is that it is to be coupled to a foundation offering educational and cultural services to the community of Mamallapuram. THe Shunpiker will be built principles of "appropriate" architecture, and attract a clientele that is interested in larger social, cultural and ecological questions. The Shunpiker will offer:
- Smallish comfortable rooms appointed with a sense of the "authentic" and "romantic".
- traditional wooden beds
- traditional textiles
- stone washrooms
- filigree window screens
- copious mosquito nets
- more service, less technology
- Places for personal escape and reflection
- garden
- a roof garden
- belvedere pavillions
- beach access
- vaulted cistern/step well
- opportunities to partake in the Shunpiker Foundation
- Teaching computer, English or childrens' classes
- Attending classes offered by locals: music, cooking, Tamil language and culture, stone carving
- Organising and attending cultural events at the Shunpiker
- a first rate restaurant serving Indian and Western food under stringent hygenic control
