I was brought into the Shunpiker project by Tim Y. who is an old college friend from Oregon. My reason for being here is to make some visualizations and some architectural renderings of the Shunpiker Guesthouse. I'm also studying up on sustainable architecture in India, hoping to bring some of this information to the table in the early stages of the design. In the end we will need an Indian architect to fill in the gaps, but I hope to see some of my work in the finished product someday.
I'm excited about the possibilities of this project. It's a big, ambitious, intimidating venture. It's also nice to defer to someone elses vision. I feel this is going to put a lot of demands on my basic lack of practicality. It's very educational seeing the interface between the world of concrete, investors, politics and the world of dreams, adventure and shangri-la.
- News: After shilly-shallying for quite a while, I bought a ticket to Chennai. I'll be arriving on June 24 at 12:45 in the morning, so just after midnight of the 23rd. Will everyone still be partying? I guess I'll be getting a cab, but not sure if i will be spending the night in Chennai. I read that a cab from the airport to Mamallapuram costs about 20$. If anyone else is coming in from Europe on the 23rd, get in touch with me.
